Here beginneth the archives of STOUT for the year 2005:

Huzzah!
Stout is working on a new CD!
We are going into the studio on July 28 to record what will no doubt be our best CD ever.
Of course, after recording comes mixing, listening, going out to dinner, talking, re-mixing...etc.
Then we will have one of our friendly local word-smith write up some fascinating liner notes. After that, a talented artist friend will hopefully be ready with a spiffy CD cover design, and we'll be almost there...
We can expect to have the final product available by November 2005.

Aug.4th update:

[I (Stout-fan-and-webmaster) have just heard some of the "raw cuts" of the new CD...and they are just amazing. I'm so proud of these guys. They have been working hard on this, and it shows].

One of the cuts uses an beautiful little antique banjo that was rescued (practically in mid-air!) on its way to a dumpster. Norm strung it with gut strings, and Bob...well, Bob does that banjo thing that he does so very well. What can we say. You're gonna have to hear it. Amazing...

August 14:
We are back in the studio today, (Thank goodness it's air-conditioned!), polishing up some vocals and adding a few new cuts.

August 19:
Did the concert at Snug Harbor Children's Museum; a beautiful evening full of good music and cool weather. Two young ladies from P.S. 35 (Norm's Alma Mater)helped us out from the audience with the Unicorn Song, and The Erie Canal.
Then we drove back (under a full moon) to Moon Studio on Staten Island, mixing, listening and mixing some more...a good day's work all around.

August 26:
Well, we finished the mixing, at last! Sure sounds good. So good, in fact, that we had a hard time deciding what cuts to leave in and what to leave out. This is going to be a big one, in more ways than one.

October 8-10:
Well, Stout played the Long Island County Fair like the troupers they are. Three days of rain, rain, and a bit more rain. We kept the instruments from filling with water, and we did the job. Good ol' dependable Stout. (Soggy, but dependable. At least the Newcastle Ale tasted even better at the end of the day...)

October 17:
Bob picked up the prototype master from Moon Studios today, and it looks and sounds great! The CD is called Don't You Wish You'd Been There? So neat to see it in what will be its final form, complete with cover art by Annie Pederson. Bob and Norm are proofreading the text and layout now, and will send it back (with corrections and additions) to Henry Falco at Moon Studio, ASAP. So, amazingly enough, we are on schedule with this thing!

November 5:
(click on link==>) New CD is here!

December 28:
We hope your Christmas and Chanukkah are merry and bright!
I say that because the season isn't over yet by a long shot. STOUT is busy practicing, and going out to dinner, and practicing...and having hot corned beef sandwiches at Shaeffer's with Spaten Oktoberfest....oh, yeah. Also drinking Wassail (ho-ho-ho...), and playing at Richmondtown Candlelight tours (which we forgot to tell you about).
Your webmistress is soooo embarassed,
*promises to try harder in the New Year*

Last night we all went to Norm's birthday party , held at (you guessed it) Adobe Blues Restaurant on Staten Island! The party was a complete surprise, and Norm says "I'll never trust any of you again!" How 21 people kept the secret, we'll never know. But as Billy says, "Sneaky is good!" Especially in a good cause. A good time was had by all, and even by the other diners, who applauded when STOUT burst into a mini-concert of spontaneous acappella song. Who knows? Maybe the management will invite us back someday?

This weekend we are playing at The Muddy Cup in Stapleton. See you there, maybe? It should be a great night!
